About Us

The Shandon Compost Collective is a neighbor-powered compost drop-off that’s been running for over five years, helping keep food scraps out of landfills and turning them into nutrient-rich compost that supports healthier soil in our community. We’re here for the practical impact and the people part: composting is a simple way to build everyday community—show up, do a small good thing, and bump into your neighbors while you’re at it.

Right now, the drop-off is hosted at a volunteer’s home, so we don’t post the address publicly. As we continue to grow, our goal is to scale up—and if the volume becomes large enough, we’ll work toward expanding into a larger, more central location that’s easier for more people to access.

Scaling the right way means listening. We want community input on what’s working, what’s not, and how we can improve—whether that’s clearer guidelines, better drop-off flow, new volunteer roles, or ideas for how compost gets shared back. To get involved, reach out to us on Instagram or use the Contact Us form at the bottom of this page.
